Update: What Happened To Justina Pelletier?

Justina Pelletier accused Boston Children’s Hospital and doctors who treated her locked in a physiatric ward.

The story began at 4 a.m. on Feb. 10, 2013, when 14-years-old Pelletier and her parents went to Boston Children’s Hospital.

She was there for the medical checkup for severe stomach pain and dehydration with pain on a scale of 7 out of 10. She said that she was making Valentine’s Day cookies with her mother after four days.

Her doctor made her parents believe that she has a psychological disease due to a rare genetic condition called mitochondrial disease. This disease affects the energy of cell creation.

And then, she was kept in the hospital’s locked psychiatric ward for 9 months, where Dr. Collen Ryan was in charge. She said that she could contact her family for an hour of visitation and 20 minutes of phone calls per week.

The weirdest thing is that her mother wasn’t allowed to ask about her daughter’s condition.

In 2016, her parents claimed that the authorities of Boston Hospital violated their civil rights and filed their civil lawsuit against the hospital and the charged doctors.

Lou Pelletier’s daughter Justina Pelletier finally got a chance to reunite with her parents after the 16- months custody battle after the judge order in 2014.

At that time, she was at the age of 16. The custody battle was between the State of Massachusetts and her Connecticut family.

She is now with her parents recovering at her own home. This summer, it will be 6 years since Justina was released from Children Hospital and allowed to return home.

She said that she took off important medication while in a wheelchair and would start rehab. She believed that she could walk someday.

According to her father, she is now a passionate horse rider, and she has accomplished her last year artist finishing in her school.

Lou Pelletier said that he would help and fight if any other families were in similar situations.
